METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONVERTING WASTE OILS AND FATS OF VEGETABLE AND ANIMAL ORIGIN TO FUEL

PURPOSE:To efficiently separate and remove solids and water contained from waste oils and fats of vegetable and animal origin by utilizing such oils and fats as fuel of low cost. CONSTITUTION:Waste matter consisting of an oil or fat of vegetable or animal origin is drawn into a precipitation tank 1 with a strainer 2 at the top, where first coarse grains of solids contained in the waste matter are removed therefrom by the strainer 2 and the waste matter is than heated by a heater 3 provided in the precipitation tank 1 so that medium-sized grains of solids and water are separated in the manner of precipitation; after that, the waste matter is sent into a storage tank 6, where the waste matter is heated by a heater 7 provided therein to a point in a specified temperature range so that, through lowering of the viscosity of the waste matter, fine grains of solids and water in the waste matter are separated in the manner of precipitation; subsequently the waste matter is sent under pressure of a head to a filter 11 of the forced- feeding type, where fine solids are removed by filtration.
