PURPOSE:To prevent a rotor from rusting at the time of stopping a compressor without applying any rust preventive coating to the rotor of the oil-free screw compressor and/or forming the rotor of an anticorrosive material such as stainless steel. CONSTITUTION:When compressors 1, 2 are stopped, an inlet valve 4 at the suction side of the first compressor 1 is closed as long as the required time set by a timer 11, and a blowoff valve 5 at the discharge side of the final compressor 2 is opened instead, while all coolers 3 installed between these two compressors are driven, and unload operation takes place, through which gas and water content existing in a route from the inlet valve 4 to the blowoff valve 5 are removed.
