PURPOSE:To efficiently obtain L-tryptophan useful as a feed additive, etc., from a culture of a specific microorganism belonging to the genus Corynebacterium at a low cost by culturing the aforementioned microorganism. CONSTITUTION:A microorganism [e.g. primaquine-tolerant variant strain Corynebacterium.glutamicum H-7853 (FERM BP-3055)], belonging to the genus Corynebacterium or Brevibacterium and having tolerance to aminoquinoline derivatives or phenothiazine derivatives and the ability to produce L-tryptophan is cultured in a culture medium to collect the objective L-tryptophan from the resultant culture. Furthermore, the culturing is preferably carried out at 20-40 deg.C culture temperature near the neutral pH.
