TREATMENT OF WASTE WATER INCORPORATING ORGANIC SUBSTANCE HAVING LOW CONCENTRATION AND EQUIPMENT

PURPOSE:To remarkably enhance the degree of removal of TOC by using an immobilized yeast and treating waste water incorporating organic substance wherein the concn. of TOC is specified value or below. CONSTITUTION:Waste water incorporating organic substance having =10mg/l concn. of TOC is treated by using an immobilized yeast 7. The holding amount of an exoenzyme e.g. dehydrogenase is made large in the inside of an immobilization carrier by immobilizing the yeast described below with the comprehensive immobilization material and decomposition of organic substance is promoted. The yeast secretes large amounts of enzyme such as dehydrogenase which decomposes organic substance such as methanol incorporated in waste water. In this case, the catalytic reaction of enzyme is a main reaction and the propagation reaction of the yeast for replenishing enzyme is slightly caused. In this case, TOC component such as polysaccharides produced by the yeast is large in mol.wt. and is not washed out to the outside of the carrier. Since the cell itself of the yeast is not washed out to the outside of the carrier, the degree of removal of TOC in the treated water is enhanced.
