PURPOSE:To obtain a thickening maturation promoter of fruit of Japanese persimmon, widely contained in plants, having extreme safety because of biodegradation, comprising abscisic acid, a plant hormone, as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:An agent having promoting effects on coloring of Japanese persimmon or an agent having thickening effects on the fruits, namely a thickening maturation promoter, comprising abscisic acid [especially preferably (+)- cis-4-trans-abscisic acid, natural type abscisic acid] as an active ingredient. The amount of abscisic acid in the thickening maturation promoter of fruit of Japanese persimmon is 50-500ppm in the case of spray and 1-10% in the case of paste. The promoter promotes thickening and maturation of fruit of Japanese persimmon by an extremely simple method.
