METHOD FOR CORRECTION OF SPINAL SCOLIOSIS AND SET, ROD AND FIXING ELEMENT THEREFOR

PURPOSE: To fix a corrective force on successive occasions by improving a method for correcting the shape of the vertebral column. CONSTITUTION: A rod is fitted to vertebras 3 to 5 along the vertical direction of the vertebral column 2 across a part to be corrected in its rear side. The rod is composed of a shape memory substance having an intrinsic transition temperature lower than the body temperature and bent or in some case twisted at the temperature lower than the transition temperature of the rod according to the bent or twist of the vertebral column 2 respectively. In this case, the rod has such a force returning the rod to its initial shape that becomes a fixed force in one direction, at least, at the transition temperature or more and has a vertical cross section of a linear size.
