PURPOSE:To obtain a smooth tilt-up by providing a means to detect a helm angle of a propelling unit so that tilt-up operation by a tilt-up device can be performed only when the helm angle indicates an almost neutral position. CONSTITUTION:When a tilt switch 48 is closed toward a up-relay 46 side, a tilt motor 45 makes tilt-up operation via a relay in order to tilt-up a propelling unit. On the other hand, when the switch 48 is closed toward a down-relay 47 side, the motor 45 tilts down the propelling unit via the relay 47. At that time, since a detector 35 turns ON only when the helm angles of the propelling unit and a steering lever indicate an almost neutral position, tilt-up or tilt-down operation is not allowed when helm angle indication is not almost neutral. With this contrivance such accident as the propelling unit and a crank bracket interfere to damage each other, which occurs during tilt-up operation with the large helm angle, can be prevented.
