PURPOSE:To improve wettability by subjecting a compsn. prepd. by dissolving specific terminal hydroxy ladder polysiloxane and org. metal compd. into a solvent to low-temp. curing, then treating the surface thereof with a silane coupling agent. CONSTITUTION:The surface of the film formed on the transparent electrodes for the liquid crystal display element by using the compsn. for forming the protective film contg. the terminal hydroxy ladder polysiloxane which is expressed by formula I and has 2,000 to 500,000 number average mol.wt. and the org. metal compd. expressed by formula II and subjecting the compsn. to low-temp. curing is treated with the silane coupling agent having an amino group at the terminal. In the formula I, R1, R2 denote the same or different hydrogen or univalent hydrocarbon group; n denotes a positive integer. In the formula II, M denotes a metal element; R' denotes hydrogen or univalent hydrocarbon group; n denotes a positive integer. Consequently, the curing of the compsn. by the low-temp. heat treatment is executed by a simple coating method. The generation of repellence is obviated even if the compsn. for the liquid crystal oriented film is applied. The liquid crystal display element having the high reliability and long life is thus obtd.
