PURPOSE:To obtain an ultra-microcrystalline alloy excellent in corrosion resistance by specifying a compsn. consisting of Fe or the like, Cu or the like, Si, B, Mn or the like and C or the like in an alloy and furthermore regulating its microcrystalline structure. CONSTITUTION:This is an ultra-microcrystalline alloy having a compsn. shown by M100-x-y-z-alpha-beta-gammaAxSiyBzM'alphaM''betaX-gamma(at%) (where M denotes Fe, Co and Ni, A denotes Cu, Ag and Au, M' denotes Nb, Mo, Ta, Ti, Zr, Hf, Zr, V, Cr and W, M'' denotes Mn, Al, platinum group elements Sc, Y, rare earth elements, Zn, Sn and Re and X denotes C, Ge, P, Ga, Sb, In, Be, N and As as well as 0=x=10, 0=y=30, 0=z=25, 10=y+z=30, 4=alpha=20, 0=beta=20 and 0=gamma=20 are satisfied) and in which at least 50% of the structure is constituted of microcrystals having =1,000mum grain size. The alloy can be obtd. by forming the molten metal of an alloy into an amorphous one by a liquisol quenching method or the like and thereafter crystallizing it by heat treatment. The alloy shows excellent corrosion resistance particularly in an environment where Cl- and So42- ions are present.
