PURPOSE:To obtain the subject behavior observation device enabling the observation of an experimental animal with naked eye by attaching optical sensors in specific state to a transparent rearing cage having circular rearing path. CONSTITUTION:A transparent rearing cage 1 having a circular rearing path 6 is provided with a circulation position detecting sensor 10 and a stand-up detection sensor 11. An inner circumferential position detection sensor 12 and an outer circumferential position detection sensor 13 are provided with light projectors 12a, 13a and light receptors 12b, 13b arranged on a printed circuit board 25 under the rearing cage. An experimental animal is made to be observable through a transparent openable lid 7.
