PURPOSE: To provide a recombinant DNA structure encoding the gene of a nucleoside diphosphate kinase, and to provide a method for producing an excessive amount of the enzyme in E. coli. ;CONSTITUTION: A polypeptide having a NDP kinase activity is disclosed. A recombinant DNA structure encoding a gene related to the nucleoside diphosphate kinase is also disclosed. A transformed host cell containing the structure is also disclosed. An isolated DNA sequence of a prokaryotic cell nucleotide diphosphate kinase gene encoding the protein having a sub-unit mol.wt. of about 16,000 dalton and lacking a cysteine residue is also disclosed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO
