METHOD FOR CALCINING LIMESTONE TO PRODUCE QUICK LIME

PURPOSE:To obtain quick lime without requiring heat energy specified to calcining limestone to produce quick lime by mixing a prescribed amount of limenstone with coke in a coke gasifying furnace and adding oxygen, water and air thereto to calnine and the mixture. CONSTITUTION:In an oxidation zone (5) of a coke gasifying furnace, oxygen gas in air blown is reacted with carbon in coke (3) to generate carbon monoxide and carbonic dioxide gases. In a reduction zone (6) in the gasifying chamber (1), steam blown is reacted with carbon in the coke 3 to generate carbon monoxide and hydrogen gas. In a method calcining limestone to produce quick limastone, limestone having =10mm particle diameter is charged into the coke (3) in the coke gasifying furnace at an amount of 10% based on coke (3) to be gasified. The limestone is reacted at a high temperature (about 1000 deg.C) in the gasifying chamber to provide quick lime.
