The invention relates to a process for obtaining a monoclonal antibody against a primary or secondary biogenous amine, where the antibody is directed against a coupling product of the biogenous amine and a coupling reagent, wherein a primary or secondary amine is bonded via its amino group to a coupling reagent whose reactive group is an iso(thio)cyanato group, the coupling product is bound to a carrier material, and the bound coupling product is used as immunogen. Furthermore, the invention also relates to a method for the immunological determination of biogenous amines with the aid of the antibodies against the coupling product.
