HAND BLUR PREVENTING DEVICE FOR VIDEO CAMERA

PURPOSE:To surely correct hand blur quantity and to prevent strong blur of a picture by varying an effective picture element area on an image pickup element based on a detection signal from an acceleration detection sensor detecting hand blur. CONSTITUTION:When hand blur takes place in error during pickup of video camera, an acceleration sensors 5, 6 provided in a camera main body detect the hand blur. The hand blur information detected by the acceleration sensors 5, 6 is inputted to a scanning position control section 4, then the control section 4 moves the effective picture element area on the image pickup element 2 into a hand blur correction area in matching with the quantity of hand blur in a direction to cancel the hand blur at a velocity proportional to the velocity of the hand blur. When the hand blur information is lost, the moved effective picture element area is restored to the original area at a prescribed velocity. Thus, the picture is not largely moved and a stable picture is obtained.
