PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of test evaluation by a construction wherein a pressure in a vessel sealing hermetically a space between a rotary shaft and a stationary shaft and surrounding them and a pressure for protecting a mechanical seal are kept balanced and load and torque detectors having pressure- resistant and heat-resistant functions in the pressure vessel are employed. CONSTITUTION:A movable test piece 3 and a fixed test piece 4 are inserted into joints 5 and 6 and fitted to joint shafts 7 and 8 respectively. Next, rotation is transmitted from a DC motor 9 to the drive shaft 7. A mechanical seal bearing vessel 23 is combined with the shaft 7 and thereby a mechanism for keeping a seal protecting pressure and an inner-vessel pressure balanced automatically is constructed. On the other hand, a load is applied on the shaft 8 from a pressure motor 10, while load and torque detectors having pressure-resistant and heat-resistant functions in a pressure vessel 12 are employed and signals are delivered outside directly. According to this constitution, execution of evaluation in a high-pressure ambience is enabled and improvement in reliability and also reduction of a test time, the number of processes for manufacturing the test pieces, etc. can be attained.
