PURPOSE:To improve stability of idle operation in an engine and its startability, by studying control of the engine independently in its respective operation when the engine is driven in normal operation, starting operation and operation immediately after starting by two study correction quantity memory means. CONSTITUTION:A study control device provides the first study correction quantity memory means C storing a study correction quantity in accordance with an operating condition of an engine when it is in normal operation and the second study correction quantity memory means D storing a study correction quantity in accordance with an operating condition of the engine when it is in starting operation and in operation immediately after starting. A control value arithmetic means H calculates a control value of duty ratio of a pulse signal by adding a feedback correction quantity and a study correction quantity to the basic control value. Two study correction quantity memory means C, D separately study control of the engine in its respective operation when the engine is in normal operation, starting operation and operation immediately after starting. In this way, the engine, improving its stability of idle operation and startability, is prevented from causing an engine stop when the engine is in transient operation.
