PURPOSE:To set term explanation generation work to be efficient by providing a term explanation generation function which automatically generates the explanation of a term when an item which becomes the term is designated while a document is inputted. CONSTITUTION:A term designation means 2 designating the term generating the explanation of the term while the document is inputted, a level designation means 3 designating a term level in the designated term and a term item table 6 storing the designated term and the term level are provided. Furthermore, a retrieval means 7 retrieving the term stored from the term dictionary 8 and storing the explanation of the term in the term item table 6 and output means 9 and 10 outputting the term of the designated level and the explanation of the term from the term item table 6 by the designation of the term level are provided. Thus, explanation generation work can be made efficient since the explanation of the term is automatically generated when the term adding explanation is designated while the document is inputted.
