FORMED BODY TO BE GLAZED, PRODUCTION OF THE SAME AND PRODUCTION OF GLAZED FORMED BODY

PURPOSE:To obtain the formed body to be glazed excellent in such characteristics as heat resistance, refractoriness, lightness, handiness and compressive strength by forming the body from xenotlite calcium silicate contg. a specified amt. of silicone oil consisting of dimethylsiloxane (derivative). CONSTITUTION:A silicone oil consisting of dimethylsiloxane or its derivative is added by 0.05-0.22wt.%, based on the total solid, to an aq. slurry mixture of the powdery siliceous material and calcareous material as the essential raw material. Meanwhile, the viscosity of the mixture measured at 40 deg.C by a rotor- type viscometer is preferably controlled to =1300cp. The obtained formed body is glazed and then aged by steam at high temp. and pressure by the saturated steam at 170-240 deg.C until a xenotlite crystal is sufficiently formed. The aged formed body is then burned at 800-1100 deg.C to obtain the glazed formed body.
