PURPOSE:To obtain the permeable membrane consisting of a sintered alloy having an excellent sepn. coefft. and permeation characteristic by mixing Pd metallic powder having a specific grain size and Pd-Ag compound powder at a specific ratio, subjecting the mixture to compaction molding and sintering the molding. CONSTITUTION:The Pd metallic powder having 0.01 to 5mum average grain size and the Pd-Ag compound powder contg. 50 to 95wt.% Ag and consisting the balance substantially Pd are so mixed that the ratio of the compound powder attains 10 to 70%. The powder mixture is subjected to the compaction molding to a desired shape, such as plate, and the molding is sintered at 500 to 700 deg.C. The compaction molding is preferably executed under 1000 to 4000kg wt./cm2 molding pressure. This permeable membrane contains pores of about =3mum which do not penetrate in the film thickness direction preferably in an about 5 to 20% priority range. The permeable membrane consisting of such Pd-Ag sintered alloy is used for sepn. of hydrogen, heavy hydrogen and tritium.
