PURPOSE:To make it possible to have multipurpose applications by using spatial frequency, forming a period pattern in an image space actively, using a passive system at the same time, and estimating the size and the shape of an object. CONSTITUTION:An incident electromagnetic wave 1 of light is condensed through an antenna 2 in a passive means B. The condensed light plane is detected with an electromagnetic detector 4 through a transmitting period lattice 3. A synchronizing pattern is formed in an image pattern without using an electromagnetic wave. In an active means A, a constant spatial frequency is formed in the space of an object or in the image space of the object. A mask 2 having a constant period pattern is provided in front of an antenna 1. A transmitting electromagnetic beam 3 is modulated in a space and transmitted with a period pattern being provided. These means are provided together, and the frequency speed of the detected light intensity is obtained. When there is no radiation from the object, the uniform electromagnetic wave is realized in place of the active means. Furthermore, an additional means for estimating the continuing time of the change in detected light intensity and the shape is provided, and the multipurpose applications can be realized.
