POLY-(ETHER THIOETHER AROMATIC KETONE) AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled crystalline polymer with high heat and solvent resistance and outstanding mechanical properties in a simple way using readily available raw materials, by polymerization, in specific conditions, between dihelobenzophenone and hydroxythiophenol. CONSTITUTION:Using as a solvent an aliphatic or aromatic sulfone (pref., sulforane, aromatic sulfone), a polycondensation is carried out at 200-400 deg.C, in the presence of at least one sort of compound selected from alkali metal carbonates and bicarbonates (pref., sodium carbonate), between virtually aquimolar amounts of (A) 4-hydroxythiophenolj and (B) 4,4'-dihalobenzophenone to obtain the objective polymer of an intrinsic viscosity =0.4 having linear structure with structural units of formulae I and II alternately bonded each other.
