PURPOSE:To desulfurize efficiently by releasing SO2 from an adsorbent by passing air through the SO2 adsorbed SO2 adsorbent and supplying the resulting SO2-containing air as combustion air to a fluidized bed combustion furnace. CONSTITUTION:In a fluidized bed combustion furnace 1, rather a large amount of SO2 is removed by a desulfurizing agent 3 (e.g. CaO) and a waste gas containing the remaining SO2 is brought into contact with acid-resistant SO2 adsorbents 10A, 10B (e.g. activated alumina) at 150-600 deg.C to remove SO2 and give cleaned gas. Air is passed through the SO2 adsorbed SO2 adsorbents 10A, 10B to release the adsorbed SO2 and the resulting SO2-containing air is supplied to the fluidized bed combustion furnace 1 as combustion air. As a result, highly efficient desulfurization is carried out.
