PURPOSE:To obtain a clear color image by preventing color deviation of each color in a recorded image due to streching and shrinking of a recording medium by carrying out recording positioning in a carrying direction of the recording medium based on spacing of resist marks detected by a detecting means when carrying out formation of a latent image. CONSTITUTION:A mark reading device 5 being a detecting means which reads the resist marks 15 formed at equal intervals in the carrying direction of the recording paper in parts which are off a normal image recording range of the recording paper 1 at image recordings after a second color onward, in the upper stream side of the recording paper carrying direction of a multistylus electrode head 6. When the PG pulse number feeding the length of the maximum stretched length when N pieces have been fed in PG pulse number is taken to be N + alpha, the mark reading device 5 is placed in the forward direction of the multistylus electrode head 6, spaced apart for N + alpha pieces in PG pulse number. Thus, since the latent image forming position of each color is compensated based on the stretching and shrinking in the carrying direction of the recording paper 1 from the detected result of the resist mark 15, color deviation due to the stretching and shrinking of the recording paper 1 can be prevented and a clear color image can be obtained.
