PURPOSE:To obtain a clear color image by preventing color deviation of each color in a recorded image due to streching and shrinking of a recording medium by carrying out recording positioning in a carrying direction of the recording medium based on spacing of resist marks detected by a detecting means when carrying out formation of a latent image. CONSTITUTION:A mark reading device 5 being a detecting means which reads the resist marks 15 formed at equal intervals in the carrying direction of the recording paper in parts which are off a normal image recording range of the recording paper 1 at image recordings after a second color onward, in the upper stream side of the recording paper carrying direction of a multistylus electrode head 6.
