PURPOSE:To timely unload a material to a lower basement so as to make efficient execution possible by successively extending downward a guide rail of a long span elevator to be laid and unloading the material to construct the underground body one after another. CONSTITUTION:The first space for constructing a basement by digging the ground is formed by building two steel-made supporting columns 11 in a predetermined position of the ground where a long span elevator is set up. Next, a screw jack 15 is mounted to a base frame 13 by fixing it below the supporting column 11, and a contraction connecting part 15a1 in a head part of the jack 15 is fitted and supported to an opening in the lower end of a longitudinally supporting pipe 12a. A load-carrying platform 16 of the elevator 10 is supported to a guide rail 12, and the basement is executed by loading an underground constructing material on the load-carrying platform 16 to be unloaded on the first space. Next, the second space is formed by digging the ground below the first space, and the lower basement is successively executed by a similar procedure.
