Apparatus for lighting votive lamps in a religious institution, in which theapparatus contains at least one holder (4) for at least one electric bulb (3)and a mechanism for accepting a means of payment. Said mechanism has adetection unit (12) for determining the sum paid and, based on the detectedsum, generating a control signal. The detection unit is connected to anelectronic switch, which in turn is connected to the said holder. The switchis capable of receiving the said control signal and setting the number ofbulbs to be lit and the duration, as a function of the said control signal.IMAGE
