METHOD FOR PREPARING OF SCLAREOL FROM SALVIA SCLAREA

This method applies to the chemical industry. The final product is obtained by a simple and short technological cycle and is with increased efficiency and improved purity. The method consists of the following. Blooms of the plant are extracted with non-polar solvent, the miscella obtained is concentrated at a temperature of 80 to 90 degrees C to a concrete, containing essential oil. The concrete is processed with 18 to 50 per cent water-ethanol solution or with a mixed solvent, containing water, ethanol and acetone in proportion from 2 to 5 : from 2 to 6: from 2 to 6 for 30 min. to 3 hours. The solution obtained is decanted and is subjected to liquid-liquid extraction with hydrocarbon solvent and the extract obtained is concentrated whereby the Sclareol crystallizes simultaneously. The ratio between the concrete and the water-ethanol solution or the mixed solvent is from 1:7 to 1:10 and the ratio between the solution and the hydrocarbon solvent for the extraction is from 10:1.5 to 10 : 1.8.
