The gripper device is provided for jointly charging or discharging boxes or the like with bottles or the like containers, especially for bottles and containers of which the diameter is only slightly smaller in the region of the neck than in the region of their body. The gripper device is provided with a packing head and several packing bells (1) connected thereto, each having an essentially hollow cylindrical receptacle (2), in each case for a bottle that is to be gripped, and an elastic packing bell insert (3) disposed circumferentially in the receptacle (2), which insert (3) can be previously adjusted to the free receptacle cross-section by means of an axially displaceable adjusting piston provided on the side turned away from the free opening edge (5) of the receptacle (2).
