The present invention relates to a self-propelled combine harvester having an axial-threshing and separating unit which consists at least of two rotors (10, 11) and of a housing (12) surrounding these rotors (10, 11). At the same time, the housing (12) is partially provided with passage orifices for the granular material still being threshed out. To achieve a perfect separation of residual grains, the housing (12) surrounding the rotors (10, 11) is enlarged above the two rotors (10, 11), so as to form there a space (14), in which the straw mat delivered by the first rotor (10) can expand before it is taken up again by the second rotor (11).
