Eutrophy of quarry lakes is accelerated, due to hydrogeological factors. The dwell time of water in these lakes is prolonged and consequently exposure to environmental pollutants is increased. This curtails any possible welfare application of these waters. Based on hydrodynamic and water quality measure means. - It is possible to reduce water dwell time by measurable amounts to an optimal minimum. - Such measure lessens or prevents eutrophy and is achieved by measured decreases of water levels. Decreases being replenished from phreatic water sources. An optimal complex use of extracted waters becomes thus possible
