This invention relates to the use of tenidap, presently shown as the enolic form of 5-chloro-2,3-dihydro-2-oxo-3(2-thienylcarbonyl)-indole-1-carboxamide, and the pharmaceutically-acceptable base salts thereof to reduce total serum cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and triglycerides in a mammal having an inflammatory arthritic condition.
