Described is a method of charging a half-cell of a zinc suspension/air storage battery in which during charging zinc build-up on the current conducting electrode (2, 10) is prevented by using a material for said electrode (2, 10) having a high-overpotential for zinc build-up and and by carrying out charging at a suitable potential which is not more than 50 mV higher than the absolute potential of the equilibrium potential of the zinc suspension-electrode assembly. In the method zinc build-up essentially occurs on the zinc particles which circulate.
