It is characterised in that the method consists in marking the horizons of the seismic profile by means of a luminescent product, in illuminating the seismic profile with ultraviolet light, in filtering the light emitted by each of the horizons so as to remove all colours other than that corresponding to the filter used, in focusing the light emitted and filtered by each of the marked horizons on an assembly of detectors of which each detector is associated with a narrow band of the seismic profile oriented in a predetermined direction of the seismic profile, then in processing and recording the signals delivered by each of the detectors so as to obtain a three-dimensional matrix representing the seismic profile.
