The statoric part (3) of a vibration exciter or shaker is made mobile in respect of the fixed part or base (13) resting on the working surface or bench (5) thanks to suitable air guides (17), and is pulled back to its initial position by suitable flexible means (23) linking the stator (3) and base (13). In this way, only a tiny part of the electro-dynamic reaction forces applied to the stator (3) are transmitted to the said bench (5), on which both shaker and interferometric equipment (not stated) for calibrating the accelerometers are assembled. Such lessening of the vibratory effects results in a considerable reduction of measurement uncertainties. Furthermore, the above mentioned air guides (17) undertake to guide the stator (3) from the side, preventing parasitic effects on the transverse plane.
