In order to produce a low-flammability, high-temperature- resistant, paper-like material based on polyimide fibres I, the material having an LOI value of at least 32% and a Tg point of at least 300 degree C, a pulp composed of an aqueous suspension of polyimide fibres and, if desired, polyimide fibrids with structural units I are formed into a web on a sheet-forming device and this web is dewatered and dried, the polyimide fibres being used for web formation in the comminuted state, specifically with a fibre length of from 0.01 to 120 mm.
