In a known arrangement for program selection, a timing section is provided which responds on actuation of a first number key so that a time interval begins to run. If during this time interval a second number key is actuated, a control unit switches the receiving set to the desired program immediately after the second number has been entered. If, in contrast, the desired program number has one digit, switching to the desired program only occurs after the said time interval has elapsed. In the novel arrangement, it is intended to switch to the desired program without delay both in the case of single-digit and in the case of two-digit program numbers.
