ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTIONA system for testing certain attributes (i.e.,performance and usability) of an interactive systemprogram. A memory device stores data representativeof interactive commands generated by a user. A deviceis also provided for executing an emulator overlayconnected to the memory device for receiving datatherefrom and modifying it in subsequent transmission.The emulator overlay has a time measuring deviceassociated with it for determining performance of aninteractive system program. A device is also providedfor storing and executing an interactive systemprogram connected to the emulator overlay. Finally,another memory device is provided for storing the datarepresentative of system program performance. Thesystem is capable of capturing human factors data,including screen images and associated keystrokesentered during a user session, measuring timeintervals between the screen images and keystrokes,and providing such data to a system analyst todetermine usability of host computer residentsoftware.EN985057
