PROCESS FOR PREPARING COTARNINEABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE:A process for preparing cctarnine is provided whichcomprises oxidizing the amino group of a tetrahydroisoquinolinecompound represented by the following formula (I): (I)to convert said compound into a dihydroisoquinolinium saltrepresented by the following formula (II): (II)wherein A- represents an anion, and then hydrolyzing saiddihydroisoquinolinium salt.
