ANTI-PROLIFERATIVE ACTIONOF dsRNAs ON TUMOR CELLSABSTRACTDisclosed are therapeutic compositionsand methods useful for the treatment of cancer.Double stranded ribose nucleic acids (dsRNAs), incombination with and in the absence of exogenouslyapplied interferons (IFNs), have been found toinhibit tumor cell proliferation, convert tumorcells to normal cells, and correct cancer-relatedimmune defects in individuals predisposed todeveloping cancerous conditions. The therapeuticeffect generated by the dsRNA-IFN combination issynergistic. dsRNAs also cooperatesynergistically with other substances having anindependent capability to normalize cancer cells.
