CNC lathe having a working spindle motor-driven at adjustable speed and drive elements, for moving the slides and slide rests carrying the turning tools, and a CNC control device, having a variable-speed and disengageable drive motor which is arranged on the apron wall and is connected via gearing to the split nut sitting on the fixed lead screw, a shaft which is arranged on the apron wall, is connected via gearing to the split nut sitting on the fixed lead screw and can be connected to a handwheel or the like by means of an electromagnetic toothed clutch, a variable-speed and disengageable drive motor which is arranged on the cross-slide and is connected via gearing to a threaded spindle which is mounted on the cross-slide in its longitudinal direction (X-axis) and on which a spindle nut sits which is arranged on the cross-slide in such a way as to be fixed in terms of rotation, and a handwheel or the like which can be connected to the threaded spindle by means of an electromagnetic toothed clutch.
