A method is provided for inhibiting loss of cognitive funciton, including memory, which may or may not be associated with Alzheimer's disease, by administering an ACE inhibitor, such as captopril, fosinopril, zofenopril or ceranapril in combination with a drug that acts at serotonin receptors such as zacopride, over a prolonged period of treatment.
