Wiper systems, in particular one-armed wiper systems for cars, in which a change in the angular position between the wiper blade and the wiper arm bearing this blade may take place during the swivelling motion, give an optimised wipe pattern in the lower window region. According to the invention, in such a system it is intended that the wiper blade be mounted on two connecting rods which transmit the swivelling movement and the effective length of each of which may be changed independently of the other. By virtue of such a measure, during the swivelling process it is additionally possible to change the effective length of the wiper arm which makes it possible to optimise the wipe pattern even in the region of the upper, outer corner regions of the window.
