The circuit has an electrical component (4) between two leads (2,3) and parallel to the detonator (1). The component is nonconducting in its initial state but can be made to conduct by a current at a voltage above the max. ignition voltage for the detonator so that the component short circuits the leads. The component is a sintered tantalum capacitor. A fuse (5) may lie in one lead (2) and is destroyed by a current greater than that needed to trigger the detonator. A diode (8) may lie in one lead and a shorting bridge (7) may join the two leads on the supply side of the diode.
