The agitator is mounted on a farm tractor and drivem from its P.T.O. It comprises a mounting portion, extending upwards, attached to a three-point linkage, with a propeller tube hinged on a horizontal axis at the top end. The tube slopes downwards in the working position and accommodates a shaft with a propeller at the bottom end, driven via a right-angle gearbox at the hinge point. The mounting portion is a derricking boom (1) sloping upwards, while the gearbox (24) is mounted at the top end of the propeller tube (2), with its output shaft aligned with the propeller shaft (21). Its input shaft (25) is driven from the tractor P.T.O. (30) via a string of shafts (31,26,32) with individual joints.
