The circulation indicator detects the sequence of the blood emptying and filling the veins at the extremities of the patient's limbs by using a light reflection method. This employs a light source and a photodetector coupled to an evaluation circuit with a digitally controlled tone generator and an electroacoustic transducer. This provides an initial signal indicating that the device is in a state of readiness and a second tone sequence with a frequency indicating the light reflection intensity variations. A third signal indicates the end of the measuring cycle.
