The frame element for a flat surface cover or lid (36) has at least one resilient holder for holding a first edge section (38) of the cover (36) whilst bearing members for a definite contact and hold of the second edge section (40) of the cover are provided on a second frame part (14) opposite the first frame part (12). The two frame parts (12,14) are connected together by side frame parts (16). Adjoining the first frame part (12) approximately parallel thereto are two finger parts (20) which are evenly spaced from the first frame part and each finger part has on its end section facing the other finger part a holder (22) which is hook shaped to hold the first edge section (38) of the cover. The contact bearing members associated with the second frame part have ribs (35) which are vertically aligned at right angles to the two bearing edges (28) for the cover. USE/ADVANTAGE - The cover can be easily fitted and removed from the frame yet has childproof safety design.
