VHS video-recorder - provides operation in record and replay modes using multiple of nominal tape speed

The oblique line recording video recorder is operated in such a way, that `record' and `replay' drive modes are provided at a multiple of the nominal tape speed (2VI), and the tracks (2) are recorded with an intermediate space (3) between them. In a first mode of operation, normal VHS recording is provided, but at double the rated or nominal tape speed. Since no crosstalk occurs between the colour carriers, the previously used comb filter can be dispensed with. In a second variation, the luminance signal and the colour signals are recorded in separate tracks. In a third variation, the tape speed is increased with a track spacing of 98 micrometres, making possible 1, 2, 3 or even 4 track recording, with corresp. smaller track width in each case. USE - For video recorder for high quality recording e.g. D2-MAC, D-MAC, PCM sound etc. using standard VHS or S-VHS construction.
