A two-stroke Diesel engine with double expansion has a compression and expansion chamber (1) of rectangular cross-section. The engine crankshaft (5) is parallel to the short sides of this rectangular cross-section. The engine has inlet (14) and outlet (15) ports with swing piston super-chargers (10) and double expansion part cylinders (11). The head (21) of the compression and expansion chamber has a cylindrical or conical combustion chamber (18). The upper end face of the piston (2) is provided with ribs which impart a swirling motion to the incoming air. USE - Double expansion two-stroke Diesel engine.
