摘要
The method is for dividing (slicing) a cant of wood into a number of thin sheets without the formation of chips. The wood is forced longitudinally against a knife or series of knives. In cants containing the pith of the log, before slicing into thin sheets the cant is divided in two by sawing along the pith, and the subsequent slicing of the half-cant is done in such a way that the concave side of the annual rings (i.e., the side of the saw cut) is turned to the knife. USE/ADVANTAGE - The differing surface behaviour of the sheets can be influenced, and the positive features combined in the same surface of the sheet produced.
