Method of soldering together beryllium and precision steel parts using a solder based on the AgCu28 eutectic compsn. in which the steel surface is Dre which is completely mixable with the solder. The soldering process is carried out at 650-750 deg.C. The solder pref. contains 58-62% Ag, 28-32 Cu and 8-12 Sn. The metal layer on the steel is Au in a thickness of 0.1-1 micron. It is produced by electroplating in a strong acidic Au bath. The steel contains at least 15% Cr. ADVANTAGE - Large areas can be soldered together with a high strength bond resulting, i.e. a shear strength of 185-197 N/mm2.
