Seen in plan an L-section guiderail (9) is pivoted (12) on a stop bar (11) so that the guiderail can be set at the angle of the desired cut line (2) on the top surface (10) of the work (1). A circular handsaw can be pivoted about an axis (7) parallel to its sole plate (6) to provide the second angle of the cutting plane. A scale plate (16) is swung about axis (14) on the guiderail to determine the amount by which the guiderail must be offset from the cut line depending on the inclination of the saw about the axis (7).
